Bill 10

June 5, 2025
Bill 10

In May the province introduced, Bill 10, the Protect Ontario Through Safer Streets and Stronger Communities Act, 2025. Among other things, the Bill makes landlords responsible for preventing drug related activity on their premises and includes significant financial penalties if a landlord knowingly allows these activities to take place. While the current language in the Bill excludes co-op, we will be monitoring and engaging to ensure forthcoming regulations do not expand the definition of landlord and tenants to include co-ops.

There are a number of concerns with the Bill that are being raised by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario, the supportive housing community and others. CHF Canada will be raising our concerns to the province and will keep members informed of potential changes.
