We represent more than 2,200 co‐ops, home to a quarter of a million people in every province and territory.
For more than 50 years, co-ops have provided good quality, affordable housing owned and managed by the community members who live there.
Representing 85% of housing co-ops nationwide, CHF Canada brings one of the most credible, comprehensive voices to the national conversation on co-op housing.

Each of the housing co‑ops in these lists is owned co‑operatively by its members, who elect a board of directors to govern and oversee its management. If you want to live in a housing co‑op, you need to apply for membership. Members are expected to take part in running the co‑op. Most co‑ops have rent-geared-to-income units, and some offer housing for people with special needs.
