Miriam Wohl est coordonnatrice des promotions \u00e0 la Co-operative Housing Federation of Toronto<\/a> (CHFT) depuis 1998. Elle participe au mouvement de l\u2019habitation coop\u00e9rative depuis plus de 30 ans.<\/em> Miriam et sa fille Quand j\u2019\u00e9tais une jeune m\u00e8re, \u00e0 la fin des ann\u00e9es\u00a01970, il \u00e9tait difficile de trouver un logement d\u00e9cent et abordable \u00e0 Toronto, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que je d\u00e9m\u00e9nage \u00e0 la coop\u00e9rative Bain. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9poque, je travaillais dans un magasin d\u2019antiquit\u00e9s \u00e0 Kensington Market. Quand je marchais dans la rue v\u00eatue de mes v\u00eatements des ann\u00e9es\u00a01920 et accompagn\u00e9e de mes deux chiens colley, je suis certaine que je ne passais pas inaper\u00e7ue. J\u2019ai v\u00e9cu \u00e0 Bain pendant 11\u00a0ans, puis \u00e0 la coop\u00e9rative Harbour Channel 10 autres ann\u00e9es. Tout au long de mon exp\u00e9rience en habitation coop\u00e9rative, je suis pass\u00e9e d\u2019une subvention importante \u00e0 une faible subvention, puis j\u2019ai aussi pay\u00e9 le plein loyer du march\u00e9. <\/p>\n

Mon histoire est un r\u00e9cit de r\u00e9ussite coop\u00e9rative qui relate la fa\u00e7on dont l\u2019habitation coop\u00e9rative autonomise les gens et change des vies.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Bien que je sois maintenant propri\u00e9taire d\u2019une maison, c\u2019est moi qui pr\u00e9sente les voisins les uns aux autres et qui rassemble les gens. J\u2019ai aussi appris une foule de choses en si\u00e9geant au conseil d\u2019administration de mes deux coop\u00e9ratives et en ayant l\u2019exp\u00e9rience d\u2019aider \u00e0 g\u00e9rer une entit\u00e9 de plusieurs millions de dollars. J\u2019ai commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 la CHFT il y a 32 ans, comme r\u00e9ceptionniste, puis j\u2019ai g\u00e9r\u00e9 la librairie de l\u2019habitation coop\u00e9rative, et je suis devenue gestionnaire. Lorsque la CHFT a mis sur pied de nouvelles coop\u00e9ratives, j\u2019ai fait la promotion de certains logements. Au cours des 22 derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es, j\u2019ai coordonn\u00e9 et g\u00e9r\u00e9 le programme d\u2019achat en groupe \u00ab\u00a0Co-op Cost Cutters<\/a>\u00a0\u00bb pour les coop\u00e9ratives, qui offre plusieurs services \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle nationale. C\u2019\u00e9tait une exp\u00e9rience ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nale qui m\u2019a permis de r\u00e9soudre des probl\u00e8mes pour les membres de la coop\u00e9rative et de m\u2019assurer qu\u2019ils se sentent bien soutenus. J\u2019aurai bient\u00f4t 68 ans, mais lorsque je songe \u00e0 prendre ma retraite, je me sens d\u00e9chir\u00e9e parce que j\u2019adore mon travail. Ma m\u00e8re et mon fils vivent tous deux dans une coop\u00e9rative. Ma m\u00e8re a 92 ans. Sans la coop\u00e9rative, elle serait probablement dans un \u00e9tablissement de soins de longue dur\u00e9e. \u00c0 la coop\u00e9rative, elle re\u00e7oit beaucoup d\u2019amour et de soutien de ses voisins. Chaque fois que je lui rends visite, elle est entour\u00e9e d\u2019un groupe de beaux jeunes hommes et elle est le centre d\u2019attention. Elle est dans son \u00e9l\u00e9ment. Tant pour ma m\u00e8re que pour mon fils, les coop\u00e9ratives d\u2019habitation leur ont offert des logements s\u00e9curitaires, fiables et abordables qui leur permettent d\u2019avoir une vie meilleure. Un logement s\u00e9curitaire, fiable et abordable est un droit. \u00c7a devrait \u00eatre accessible \u00e0 tous ceux qui en ont besoin. Mon histoire est un r\u00e9cit de r\u00e9ussite coop\u00e9rative qui relate la fa\u00e7on dont l\u2019habitation coop\u00e9rative autonomise les gens et change des vies. Me voici, 41\u00a0ans apr\u00e8s avoir emm\u00e9nag\u00e9 avec mon fils dans notre premi\u00e8re coop\u00e9rative, toujours en train de d\u00e9fendre notre secteur, parce qu\u2019il fonctionne. Je suis extr\u00eamement fi\u00e8re d\u2019avoir v\u00e9cu dans des coop\u00e9ratives d\u2019habitation, d\u2019avoir travaill\u00e9 dans ce secteur et d\u2019avoir pu redonner au suivant<\/em> en reconnaissance du soutien que j\u2019ai re\u00e7u au cours de ma vie.
