Il y a dix ans, elle s\u2019apercevait que l\u2019embourgeoisement \u00e9tait un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne qui d\u00e9favorisait les habitants de son quartier, notamment des gens \u00e0 faible revenu et les artistes. C\u2019est \u00e0 ce moment-l\u00e0 qu\u2019Isabelle et d\u2019autres membres fondateurs ont consid\u00e9r\u00e9 la possibilit\u00e9 de d\u00e9velopper un \u00e9co village en utilisant le mod\u00e8le d\u2019habitation coop\u00e9rative. Les 92 logements dans la coop\u00e9rative d\u2019habitation Mile End offrent une mixit\u00e9 sociale et \u00e9conomique mais qui favorise les habitants du quartier dans le processus de s\u00e9lection des membres. Il y a aussi une garderie o\u00f9 les membres de la coop ont priorit\u00e9.  <a href=\"https:\/\/fhcc.coop\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2019\/10\/IMG_20191010_100856.jpg\"><\/a>Au d\u00e9but, les membres avaient des grandes ambitions pour leur coop \u00e9cologique mais les co\u00fbts \u00e9lev\u00e9s de certains \u00e9l\u00e9ments les ont men\u00e9s \u00e0 faire des compromis. Par exemple, l\u2019\u00e9nergie g\u00e9othermique \u00e9tait trop ch\u00e8re donc ils ont plut\u00f4t choisi un syst\u00e8me de r\u00e9cup\u00e9ration de chaleur des syst\u00e8mes m\u00e9caniques qui fait circuler l\u2019air chaud dans les logements. \u00ab Je n\u2019ai jamais eu de factures \u00e9nerg\u00e9tiques aussi raisonnables de ma vie \u00bb, d\u00e9clare Isabelle, qui habite dans la coop depuis janvier.  \u00ab Il faut avoir une certaine ouverture \u00e0 la vie collective et d\u00e9mocratique pour vivre dans une coop\u00e9rative d&rsquo;habitation \u00bb, admet Isabelle, qui adore sa nouvelle vie en coop\u00e9rative.
