Le 21 novembre 2013 (Ottawa) \u2014<\/span> La F\u00e9d\u00e9ration de l’habitation coop\u00e9rative du Canada (FHCC) a accueilli chaleureusement l’annonce faite aujourd’hui par la ministre d’\u00c9tat au D\u00e9veloppement social, Candice Bergen, qui donne aux coop\u00e9ratives d’habitation du Canada plus de souplesse pour offrir un suppl\u00e9ment au loyer \u00e0 leurs membres \u00e0 faible revenu.<\/p>\n

\u00abLes 900 coop\u00e9ratives d’habitation membres de la FHCC se r\u00e9jouissent de la d\u00e9cision annonc\u00e9e aujourd’hui \u00e0 la veille de la Journ\u00e9e canadienne sur le logement\u00bb, a d\u00e9clar\u00e9 le directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de la FHCC, Nicholas Gazzard. \u00abCette d\u00e9cision leur permet de conserver les fonds de subventions exc\u00e9dentaires qu’ils peuvent utiliser sous forme d’aide assujettie \u00e0 un contr\u00f4le du revenu pour aider leurs m\u00e9nages \u00e0 faible revenu vuln\u00e9rables.\u00bb<\/p>\n

Depuis un certain temps, les coop\u00e9ratives d’habitation relevant du programme de l’article 95 ont encourag\u00e9 le gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral et la Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 canadienne d’hypoth\u00e8ques et de logement (SCHL) \u00e0 s’en remettre au bon sens pour \u00e9tablir les r\u00e8gles r\u00e9gissant les subventions assujetties \u00e0 un contr\u00f4le du revenu. \u00abL’annonce d’aujourd’hui montre que le gouvernement et la SCHL sont \u00e0 l’\u00e9coute\u00bb, a pr\u00e9cis\u00e9 M. Gazzard.<\/p>\n

\u00abNous sommes tr\u00e8s heureux que l’on permette aux coop\u00e9ratives d’habitation d’utiliser ces fonds pour continuer \u00e0 offrir une aide \u00e0 leurs m\u00e9nages vuln\u00e9rables\u00bb, a indiqu\u00e9 M. Gazzard. \u00abC’est une excellente premi\u00e8re \u00e9tape pour s’attaquer au probl\u00e8me plus vaste et \u00e0 plus long terme auquel sont confront\u00e9s les fournisseurs de logements abordables qui re\u00e7oivent une aide financi\u00e8re du gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral.\u00bb<\/p>\n

Entre 2014 et 2019, lorsque la majorit\u00e9 des accords d’exploitation f\u00e9d\u00e9raux prendront fin, l’abordabilit\u00e9 de 200 000 logements logeant 500 000 Canadiens \u00e0 faible revenu sera menac\u00e9e. La FHCC demande \u00e0 tous les paliers de gouvernement de collaborer avec les groupes d’intervenants afin de prot\u00e9ger l’abordabilit\u00e9 des logements pour les a\u00een\u00e9s, les Canadiens autochtones, les personnes handicap\u00e9es et les autres personnes \u00e0 faible revenu gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 de nouveaux programmes de suppl\u00e9ment au loyer \u00e0 co\u00fbts partag\u00e9s offerts par les provinces et les territoires.<\/p>\n
